First Reconciliation and First Communion Registration

                                    Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the registration for your child in The First Holy Communion Program at St. Leonard Church. Our parish family is delighted to assist you and your child towards their next step of initiation into the Christian life.  This journey began several years ago when you presented your child for Baptism and accepted the responsibility to teach them about God’s love and to participate in the life of our Church.  This journey will take a new and exciting step this year when your child will receive two sacraments:  First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

We strongly encourage you to familiarize your child with the order of the Mass by attending Sunday Mass.  There is simply no substitute for regular active participation in the Mass.  The celebration of the Eucharist is the source and summit of all that we do. The Mass calls us to be disciples of Jesus Christ, nourishes us for that task and then sends us forth to practice our faith in the coming week.  Whenever a Mass is celebrated at St. Leonard Parish, it is also broadcast live at  https://www.youtube.com/c/SaintLeonardParish/videos

The church tells us that parents are the most important influence on a child’s spiritual development.  This development is the parents’ right, dignity, and responsibility.  Quite simply, there is no one better suited for this task than you!

Your child must be in Grade 2 or older to register for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Please complete the Registration Form on our parish website www.stleonardsparish.ca and attach your child’s Baptismal Certificate.  If your child has not been baptized, you may go ahead and register your child for First Communion.  The parish office will contact you to arrange your child’s Baptism.

Our Sacramental Preparation Ministry is sustained by volunteers who pass on the faith to our children. I thank them for performing this most important task of helping to guide our young people towards Jesus and the teachings of the Catholic Faith. We are constantly in need of more parents who are willing to assist. If you feel a calling toward this important ministry, please let us know. We will gladly accept your help.

We look forward to supporting your children in their journey to the table of the Lord.
